I got a new iPod touch and was playing around with it . Connected it to my Mac and accessed from iTunes . Damn why it cant be accessed like USB device why only with iTunes. I was trying to setup an iTunes stores account and what i got as Terms and condition while signing up . Weird it is . Seems after i have updated iTunes to latest version 8.0.1 . I am not able to reproduce it. This happened in iTunes 8.0.0.
I sold my iPod touch today after using for some 2 weeks. I didn’t really like it ( lots of reasons to say ) except for its good UI and multitouch amazingness.

Niraj, iPod touch is no doubt a revolutionary device but it lacks multiple basic things for a general user. I am not explaining demerits of it here ( its explained in the web many times i guess ) . i am just showing the iTunes store negligence in its terms and conditions text here.. See this is the problem with Mac fanboys.. they are too obssessed about iPhone or iMac or MBP etc.. and dont even care to read ( and remember what they read ) before putting their view.. get off the Apple thing for sometime and think from a bigger perspective.

for replacement there are many good MP3 players in market which suit my need. ( FM tuner, USB plug and play , no software like iTunes needed. plug it to any computer and many more.. )

How is iTunes worse though? Listen, I don’t mind debating a subject, but both of your previous comments have just been anti-Mac slander. You didn’t answer either of our questions. With Etrocal, he asked what is wrong with iTunes, and I asked what is wrong with the iPod Touch. I know that you read my comments, and you’ll notice that I back mine up with fact, not just slander. I read what you write, and it seems like you’re trying to be contrary for no sake other than to be contrary to a minority. If you want to talk in this and get somewhere, you need to back up your statements, otherwise it will just push people you are trying to change the beliefs in away from you.

First off, name a single liable problem with iTunes.
Second, who cares? iTunes is free, works well, and supports the best Mp3 player on the planet. There is no choice, because no choice is necessary.

I think ( not pretty sure because currently using Windows at work ) that you cant add folder to iTunes and the folders inside it with songs are not imported to iTunes.. have you tried it?

By folder do you mean in iTunes or outside. If it is inside, they are called Playlists, and you don’t copy them, but you can copy the songs inside. If it’s a folder outside, you either select and drag the songs onto the dock icon, or there is an import button which is File-Import to Library, or Command O. I think that is what you were asking.

Oh … i really forgot this is possible actually and should be. i can recollect now. you cant search songs in iTunes with the folder name .. For example.. i have some set of songs in a folder called “Green Day” and all the songs inside it are named like Track 1 .. track 2 ( i have faced this issue ). so now if you import the folder in iTunes and search “Green Day” iTunes wont list anything..
Contrary.. in Winamp ( only available for windows )this is possible and i have used it many times really useful .

Oh, you mean not import it to iTunes but play from a different directory. No. When you open an audio file with iTunes, it will automatically create a copy of the file for the library, but that’s what Quicktime is for. Or you could just hit Space if you’re on Leopard.

No wrong.. there is an option in iTunes which is by default selected to copy the song to iTunes own library ..i have unchecked that to save my hard disk space.. why is it selected by default is a different Mac problem..

It’s convenient to have all the tunes in a library, but it’s at the cost of space. For the most part, space isn’t an issue, so they go with convenience.

So now i am in iTunes ( with iTunes libray having nothing and songs in original location may be network ).. can i search for folder say “Green Day”.. i dont think it can search this way.. it will just search for songs relating to Green Day and not the folders .. and i have large collection of songs around of 100 GB thats a huge space for me.. to have it duplicated to another 100GB of iTunes Library.

You can search for it through the import menu. However, searching for songs outside the library for just listening to you should use Quicktime if you don’t want to import the files.
